Alice In Chains - Jar Of Fies/Sap

Alice In Chains "Jar Of Flies/Sap" is a duo of predominantly acoustic EP's which on a personal level have been very influential on my own music. I sing and play guitar in a noisy acoustic band called Driven Like The Snow and without listening to shedloads of Alice In Chains (and a band called Days Of The New who stole their sound pretty much wholesale from Alice In Chains) over the years i'd probably have stuck to electric guitar and would have a completely different playing style. Outside of my own personla musical influences, Jar Of Flies/Sap has stood the test of time well and still sounds as good today as it dd in the early 90's. I remember vividly the night news came through that Alice In Chains vocalist Layne Staley had been found dead. I was at my friend Ian's house and the two of us sat in his dining room with unamplified electric guitars playing as many Alice In  Chains songs as we could remember, Particularly "Nutshell" and "No Excuses".

Probably the most notable track is "Right Turn" a track credited on the sleeve to Alice Mudgarden as it's a collaboration between Alice In Chains, Mark Arm from Mudhoney and Chris Cornell from Soundgarden and features some sublime three part vocal harmonies...
